The first-generation Prius Plug-In

The Prius Plug-In is currently in its first generation, and it hasn’t seen as much popularity as it could have thanks to one rather disappointing number—11 all-electric miles. Given this low number, it wouldn’t take much to bump it up to something slightly more impressive.

Now, rumors are floating around the interwebs suggesting the next-gen model could get as many as 35 all-electric miles.

Various sources are reporting vastly different numbers—Green Car Reports has the estimate as high as 35 miles—but no one from Toyota has commented thus far. If this number is true, it would put the Prius Plug-In above almost all PHEVs, with the exception of the Chevy Volt, whose newest model can get up to 50 miles in electric mode.

The 2016 Toyota Prius likely won’t be revealed until this fall, so expect plenty more rumors on its power, style, and prowess on The News Wheel in the coming months.
