All right, pickup fanatics—time to get excited. According to The Detroit News, we’re going to get a handful of updates for 2015 Chevy Silverado and 2015 GMC Sierra models. The updates will include aesthetic tweaks as well as changes to technology, with the aim of improving fuel economy. The Detroit News guesses that this means transmissions with more gears, but nothing is yet confirmed.

Jeff Luke, General Motors executive chief engineer for pickups, commented, “You’ll see these kinds of technologies over the next few years, a whole array of neat, new technologies, some focused on fuel economy, some focused on capability.”

Stop-start technology is reportedly on the table for these pickups, but nothing is set in stone quite yet.

These updates for the two pickup trucks are likely a response to the somewhat poor sales figures for the 2014 models. Luke took feedback directly from customers who did not purchase the Silverado or the Sierra and based some improvements on that.

Official information on the 2015 Silverado and 2015 Sierra is likely to be released over the course of the next few months. They will go on sale later this year.
