The Magnolia Award was originally conceived in 1989 as a means to honor foreigners working in Shanghai and contributing to the betterment of its education, technology, economy, or civilians.

Blisset earned the award for his work for SAIC-GM since taking the role of its senior executive and becoming a member of its executive committee in May 2014. Prior to his tenure as Executive Vice President, Blissett was the Deputy Executive Director of Manufacturing, and in his nine years in Shanghai, he has also served in the roles of Vice President of New Business Development and Alliances and Executive Director of Manufacturing Engineering for GM International Operations.

“This is a great honor that I share with my team,” said Blissett. “The government of Shanghai has been a strong supporter of SAIC-GM, including the construction of our new Cadillac plant in Shanghai, to enable us to meet the needs of car buyers locally and nationwide.”

In addition to his professional responsibilities and his importance to the establishment of new manufacturing facilities in Shanghai, Blissett is also a frequent contributor to Heart to Heart Shanghai, which helps provide aid to Chinese children in need of surgery for congenital heart defects.
