SAIC-GM-Wuling on Friday launched two new variants of its Baojun 510 SUV, both of which mate the standard 1.5-liter engine with a new automated manual transmission. The two new versions of the Baojun 510 join the three trims released in February of this year and will be priced between RMB 68,800 (approximately $10,614 USD) and RMB 75,800 (approximately $11,694 USD).

Since launching earlier this year, the Baojun 510 has ascended to the position of the Baojun brand’s second-most-popular vehicle, with deliveries reaching 153,771 examples through August. The addition of the Baojun 510 1.5L iAMT to the lineup likely only improves its standing in the eyes of potential customers—its target demographic in particular is younger drivers buying a new vehicle for the first time.

On the inside, the Baojun 510 1.5L iAMT can be distinguished by the rotary gearshift dial found on the center console and the paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. These ease-of-use features further serve to make these two trims more appealing to younger drivers in search of more intuitive experiences behind the wheel.

Other standard features with the Baojun 510 1.5L iAMT include a semi-open panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, push-button start, cruise control, and an eight-inch LCD touchscreen with rear view camera and smartphone integration capabilities. The interior is optimized to provide a quieter ride with greater insulation, and interior surfaces are offered in mature black and brown hues.

The Baojun 510 1.5L iAMT will also be offered with Baojun’s membership service suite, which includes car steward and booking services and assessment privileges.
