Ford F-650 and F-750

Ford is a brand synonymous with trucks, and its F-650 and F-750 are no exception. Through August, Ford’s redesigned medium-duties have delivered year-over-year growth of 59%, enough to top the cumulative sales total for both models through the entirety of last year and post their best year-to-date sales total since 1997.

“We’re seeing growing interest in the new tractor from beverage and hauling fleets,” says Kevin Koester, Ford medium-duty truck and Super Duty fleet marketing manager. “Giving our customers the choice of two exclusive powertrains, available across all body styles and designed specifically for the unique needs of the vocational truck market, has really helped drive sales of our new trucks.”

Sales of the F-650 and F-750 total 10,160 units through August.

The all-new F-650 and F-750 were unveiled in early 2014 and introduced to the market in August 2015, emanating from Ohio Assembly as the result of a $168 million investment. Ford’s medium-duty truck is the only model in the segment offered with a gasoline engine—a 6.8-liter V10 that generates 320 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque and is mated to the built-in-house TorqShift HD six-speed automatic.

Ford is also the only medium-truck manufacturer that puts together its own diesel engine and transmission setup, and the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel generates a standard output of 270 horsepower and 675 lb-ft of torque in addition to optional outputs of 300 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque and 330 horsepower and 725 lb-ft of torque.

Koester cites TorqShift HD’s available Live-Drive Power Takeoff Provision as being another feature that has caught on with consumers, allowing the engine to create 300 lb-ft of stationary torque and 200 lb-ft in mobile mode and making the F-650 and F-750 ideal for equipment operation. It also offers drivers a quieter ride, meaning more peace and quiet regardless of how hard the work may be.
