Kia Motors America has just achieved its best-ever quarterly total of 20,346 units, thanks to April, May, and June sales results. Year-to-date, Kia has seen 7.8% more pre-owned vehicle sales than it did last year. The Sedona, Sportage, Cadenza, and K900 had double digit increases in sales, compared to other Kia models. These figures put it way ahead of competitor brands when it comes to this inventory niche.

Low credit scores? Why Kia models might be the perfect pick

Michelle Krebs, executive analyst for Cox Automotive’s Autotrader, testifies to Kia’s success in the pre-owned vehicle sector: “Kia is enjoying a terrific year for Certified Pre-owned vehicle sales. Kia has gained market share and is outperforming some of its big-name competitors. As its off-lease vehicles return to the market, Kia is in a strong position to maintain its momentum.”

Kia’s CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) program has strict standards for the cars it labels “certified.” In order to be a Kia CPO vehicle, a car has to pass a rigorous 150-point QA inspection by certified Kia technicians. It also has to have less than 60,000 miles on it and be 5 years old or younger. Once it passes these qualifications, it gains the CPO label as well as a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty and a 12-month/12,000-mile Platinum Coverage feature.
