Dad Builds Son His Own Scaled-Down Toyota Land Cruiser
Can this be our dad?
Whether or not you enjoy driving, there’s no denying that taking a fun vehicle off-road can be truly freeing. Perhaps you’re into Jeep Wranglers, or maybe you prefer other classics like the Land Rover Defender or the Toyota Land Cruiser. No matter your style, once you hit the wilderness in an off-road vehicle the fun really begins.
Nobody knows this better than young Billy Beckett of Australia. Since 2012, when Billy’s family took a road trip through the Australian bush in his dad’s Toyota Hilux, Billy has dreamed of the day when he could be the one behind the wheel on such an exciting trip. Luckily for Billy, his dad Quentin is something of a genius when it comes to mechanics, and before Billy knew it he had control of his very own built-from-scratch scaled-down Land Cruiser thanks to his dad.

Billy’s scaled-down Toyota Land Cruiser is built on a go-kart chassis. Inside, it has genuine upholstered seats, a radio, and even a snorkel. From the outside, you’d be forgiven for mistaking this tiny vehicle for the real deal, with its chunky tires, roof bar, and spotlight. Billy’s mother, Tanea, reports that he loves taking his scaled-down Land Cruiser off road and seeing what it’s made of.
If we awarded prizes for parenting, Quentin Beckett would be at the top of our list. This is truly an example of a parent doing it right.
