New Scion VP Andrew Gilleland

A lot of exciting things have been happening of late over at Scion. The company recently released its brand-new iA sedan and iM hatchback to much applause, and it’s hoping to change the way drivers buy cars via its Pure Process Plus system. Now, Scion is announcing a change of leadership as Andrew Gilleland steps up as the brand’s new VP.

Gilleland is no stranger to Scion. In fact, he previously held the position of National Field Operations Manager for Toyota’s youth brand, working with dealers to educate them on Scion’s new products and processes. In his new position as Vice President, he will be helping dealers learn how to sell the new iA and iM, albeit on a much larger scale (and with many added responsibilities).

Gilleland’s new position will allow him to oversee Scion’s business efforts, which includes expanding the Pure Process Plus online buying system to a total of 200 dealers over the next few years (that total is currently 60 dealers).

“Scion has sold nearly a million vehicles since I left in 2005 and I’m excited to be back leading this team,” said Gilleland. “The iM 5-door hatchback and iA sports sedan arrived at dealerships earlier this month and the response has been great. New customers are drawn to the styling and value of our new cars, and we have a terrific opportunity to increase dealer engagement and sales.”

Gilleland comes back to Scion after holding various positions in parent company Toyota and luxury sister company Lexus. He will replace Doug Murtha, who will step into a new position in Corporate Strategy and Planning for Toyota in North America.
