The 2016 Scion iA and iM

These days, it seems easier than ever to buy a new car—especially if the new car you’re buying is a Scion. Toyota’s test brand has been utilizing a new system called Pure Process Plus for a couple of years at select Scion dealerships, and the system will be available across the country during the first half of 2016. Pure Process Plus will allow customers to complete the entire car purchasing experience online, in as little as an hour.

The system lets customers pick out a specific car online with a no-haggle price (which is one of the things Scion is known for), get loan approval from Toyota, check out their trade-in value via KBB.com, agree on the car purchase, and possibly even have the vehicle delivered to their doors.

Doug Murtha, VP of Scion, explained, “People want to spend less time in the dealership.” Certainly, dealerships often get a bad rap even though millions of drivers have positive experiences every year. This system will help revamp the car-buying process—not to eliminate dealerships, but to move the process online and make it more streamlined for Scion drivers and employees alike.

Scion’s newest models—the iA sedan and iM hatchback—are due out early this fall, so you could well end up purchasing yours entirely online. Approximately 60 dealerships currently use the system, with all 1,000 in the US to join by the second half of 2016.
