So That Weird Cadillac Tweet Was Totally Intentional
As it turns out, Cadillac’s super odd tweet with one period was not an accident, nor did it confirm Half-Life 3 (though we cannot say with any certainty if it confirms Illuminati). The period-only tweet is actually just one facet in a multi-platform campaign to tease a new ad campaign that will hopefully actually feature cars. Kinda takes the wind out of our sails a bit, if we’re gonna be honest here.
Don’t bother watching the video above. “.” is quite simply five minutes and one second of a blank screen, which means it’s about 100 times better than the music video for Nickelback’s newest single.
Here’s a post from Cadillac’s Instagram yesterday. It’s a picture of nothing. It got 1,517 little hearts.
To make sure everyone gets the point, they posted the same thing again today. So far, it’s up to 634 hearts. This is the apex of social media here, people.
Cadillac’s Facebook now features a totally whited-out profile and banner image, which is slightly less obnoxious than Cadillac Vaguebooking about “OMG U GUYZ SOMETHING BIG COMING 3.22 #WATCHOUT #CADILLAC #CRACKERJACKS #ILLUMINATI”.
Same thing on Pinterest. Oh boy! What’s next? Nothing on MySpace? HAHA just kidding there’s been nothing on MySpace for like a decade now.
Apparently, the point behind all of this cutting-edge use of blank space is to forecast an advertising campaign that will kick off at the Oscars next Sunday. Great. So does that mean we can expect nine more days of empty posts on social media? Still, it’s likely to be more informative than anything Brietbart churns out.
So what could this “white out” indicate? Are we getting a glimpse at something new? Perhaps our first look at the all-new CT6? Is Cadillac just going to run a bunch of commercials of its current and upcoming lineup, except all the cars are white? (Whoa.)
Our prediction: Cadillac emphasizes blank spaces to announce the new face of the brand:
