Looks like a tight fit

The 454 Chevrolet Big Block is a legendary engine that was used in classic muscle cars like the 1970 Chevelle and Corvette. Some gearheads modify their 454 motor with larger pistons, upgrading it to a 468, providing some extra power for the race track.

Or, perhaps, some extra power for the middle school parking lot where they are dropping their kids off in a used Kia SUV.

Bring a Trailer stumbled across an eBay listing in Burlington, New Jersey for a 2005 Kia Sorento LX that’s been equipped with a 468 cubic inch Big Block V8, raising the question: uh… why?

Apparently, it’s not as uncommon a swap as one might think. For example, here’s a guy who put a Corvette’s V8 engine in his Sorento:

The 2005 Kia Sorento was built with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, which produced a not-so-whopping 192 horsepower, so this 468 ci Chevy Big Block V8 no doubt makes a world of difference. The motor has been paired with a Turbo-Hydromatic transmission known as the 4L60.

While the Sorento itself has about 90,000 miles on it, the transplanted engine and transmission only has 2,754 miles, according to the seller.

At the time of writing, there are 11 hours of bidding left, with the current bid at $3,450. If you like strange bedfellows, this might be the car for you.
