Ford has created a new “Old Yeller” Shelby GT 350 Mustang that it will auction off at the upcoming Gathering of Eagles charity event

Besides its eye-catching paint job, this special-edition Mustang also packs a 526-horsepower V8 engine

In the last eight years, the Ford Motor Company has raised more than $3 million for charity by auctioning away special-edition Mustangs at the annual Gathering of Eagles event. In honor of this tradition, Ford has designed a new bright yellow Mustang Shelby GT350 for this year’s show, which pays tribute to the “Ole Yeller” P-51D Mustang fighter plane that was flown by legendary air show pilot Bob Hoover.

This Mustang’s distinctive yellow paint job was designed to replicate the unique color scheme featured on the P-51D Mustang stunt plane. There are “Ole Yeller” badges located on the rear fascia and its mirrors project images of the aircraft. In addition, a large rear wing with green accents and neon green underbody lights are two other visual highlights of this one-of-kind Mustang.

Underneath the hood, this special edition muscle car features a 5.2-liter flat plane crank V8 engine good for 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful naturally-aspirated motor that Ford has ever built. That engine works with TREMEC 6-speed manual transmission, while the vehicle’s ride quality is further improved by a specially tuned sport suspension.

The ‘Ole Yeller’ Shelby GT350 Mustang will go up for auction at the upcoming Gathering of Eagles charity event, which is scheduled to take place on July 28th in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Experimental Aircraft Association’s (EAA) youth education programs. Last year, Ford auctioned away an Apollo Edition Ford Mustang that raised $230,000 for the EAA.

“We’re truly grateful Ford is, and has been, such a committed sponsor of EAA and AirVenture for more than 16 years now,” said Jack Pelton, EAA CEO and chairman of the board. “With its ninth Mustang donation, Ford has definitely delivered something exceptional that any auto or aviation enthusiast would love to own. The Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang will allow EAA to provide support to our valuable programs helping us grow the next generation of aviators.”
