Scion might be on its way out, but Toyota’s youth-oriented brand isn’t going down without a fight. After rebranding its Scion Racing division as SR by Toyota, the automaker held a Scion-only car show in Long Beach, California, at the end of last week to celebrate the launch of the 2016 Formula Drift season.

The show took place on April 15th, which was an unusually rainy day in the California city. In spite of the inclement weather, the show had a pretty major turnout. Those who were lucky enough to attend the show were greeted with a sea of Scions, each one more modified than the next. Some of the more recognizable vehicles at the show were products of the Scion Tuner Challenge, which awarded the winner with a sizeable check each year at the SEMA show in Vegas.

Other Scions on display included Formula D driver Ken Gushi’s FR-S, which was fitted with a Toyota 86 14R60 bumper typically reserved for 86 owners only. In fact, there were numerous modded FR-S models, each one more glorious than its predecessor.

One of the more recognizable vehicles in the fray was the Scion tC Release Series 10.0, which is Scion’s last hurrah before its August demise. This final Release Series features a Kei Miura-designed aero kit, which includes rocker panels, a deck spoiler, front spoiler, and rear lower spoiler. Design-wise, the tC Release Series 10.0 has blacked-out wheels and badges and an attention-grabbing red paintjob. It also comes equipped with TRD performance lowering springs and a TRD performance exhaust. Scion will make a total of 1,200 of these cars, making them hot commodities among the brand’s biggest fans.

While it would have been almost poetic for a Scion vehicle to win the Formula D Long Beach ’16 race, the title was eventually taken by Chelsea DeNofa, driving the BC Racing BMW E-46 3-Series.
