Lightning McQueen in real life

If you’re a fan of the Cars franchise from Disney•Pixar, or are the parent of a young enthusiast, get ready to be excited. The automotive stars of the latest installment Cars 3 are getting ready to take a “Road to the Races” trip this spring to meet America before the film comes out this summer. We’re not talking about the voices behind the cast of Cars, videos, cardboard cutouts, or other facsimiles of vehicles. The magical crew at Disney has actually created the characters in the scale they would be in real life.

The tour started earlier this month in Orlando at Disney Springs, and from there is headed to major cities like Chicago, Boston, Cincinnati, and New York. Each stop is a different length of time, and several are days during the week, so we encourage you to check the official schedule to see when these cool rides will be near you.

According to the Oh My Disney blog, fan-favorite Lightning McQueen (voiced in the movies by Owen Wilson) will be headlining the promotional tour. He will be accompanied by two characters from the new film: Cruz Ramirez, a trainer played by Cristela Alonzo, and Jackson Storm, a cutting-edge new racecar voiced by Armie Hammer. Fans will be treated to Cars-themed activities when they visit the big movie stars, and will be invited into the “Cinetransformer Mobile Movie Theater” to catch a peek at the upcoming summer flick. NASCAR Acceleration Nation will also be accompanying the tour to teach visitors about the NASCAR Hall of Fame and the science under the hood of racing stock cars.

After its 27 city tour, the vehicle of Cars 3 will arrive at the movie’s world premiere on Saturday, June 10th and roll on the red carpet before the film opens in theaters on June 16th. Hopefully these large-as-life racecar legends will be stopping at a city near you.
