Toyota Promotes Beach Safety

Don’t you wish you were this Tacoma right now?

The beach is the perfect place for relaxing, having fun, and soaking up the sun. But while heading into the ocean for a dip is refreshing on a hot summer’s day, it can quickly become dangerous. Lifeguards are fixtures on most popular beaches, but with thousands of beachgoers hitting the sand every day, maintaining a safe environment for all can be a challenge. That’s where Toyota comes in.

Toyota is a proud sponsor of the San Diego Lifeguards and their Water Safety Days program. Toyota promotes beach safety along with the City of San Diego’s lifeguards by providing vehicles to help lifeguards perform their jobs more efficiently. Since the partnership began in 2011, Toyota has donated 34 vehicles, with new additions including 15 Tacomas, 12 Tundras, three 4Runners, three Sequoias, and one RAV4.

Mission: Rescue

The Water Safety Days program stresses the importance of staying safe on the beach, and Toyota is proud to work alongside lifeguards to make our country’s beaches a safe haven for all. The all-wheel drive Tacoma and 4Runner help lifeguards reach those in need more quickly over sand, rocks, or other off-road terrain; while the Tundra and Sequoia work well for towing water crafts when necessary.

Doug Eroh, Toyota Motor Sales Los Angeles Region general manager, commented, “San Diego is one of the country’s most popular beach destinations, and Toyota recognizes the critical role the city’s lifeguards play in keeping our beaches safe. We are committed to ensuring San Diego has the best available resources to do that, along with educating this great community and its visitors on water safety.”

So next time you’re on the beach in San Diego, look out for lifeguards in Toyotas!
