No. 6 Camaro Z/28.RIt only took two starts for the Steven Motorsports No. 6 Camaro Z/28.R to assert itself as a nightmare in the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and the GS class of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge after Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis piloted the monstrous machine to victory in Friday’s IMSA race at Sebring International Raceway.

Liddell took the lead with a half-hour left in the race and only increased his lead until the proceedings ended under a caution flag. Liddell held off John Edwards and the BMW M3 for the win at Sebring after a crash involving Marc Miller and his Mazda MX-5 ended the race prematurely. Miller was treated at a local hospital and released later that evening.

“We never want to see a race conclude under caution as a result of an accident, and we extend our best wishes to Mark Miller for a speedy and complete recovery,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, in a press release.

BJ Zacharias finished in third in the Nissan 370Z, rounding out the podium. The brethren of the No. 6 Camaro Z/28.R, Andy Lally and Matt Bell’s No. 9 Stevenson Camaro Z/28.R, finished in eighth place. The third Camaro Z/28.R, the No. 01 CKS Autosport driven by Lawson Aschenbach and Eric Curran, was forced out early after an incident on the race’s last restart.

The next Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race—the Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix Powered by Mazda—will get underway Saturday, May 3, at Laguna Seca in Monterey, California.
