Either Honda has gone Benedict Arnold on its customers, or people just really trust Subaru. (Here’s a clue: it’s probably the latter.) Honda has long been regarded as the most trusted brand here in the US, but in Kelley Blue Book’s 2015 Brand Image Awards, that was no longer the case. Instead, Subaru nabbed the title of the Most Trusted Brand in America, after more than 12,000 new car shoppers expressed their opinions on KBB.com.

This marks the first year that Subaru has taken home the title of Most Trusted Brand officially, but the automaker has an extensive history of establishing itself as a transparent company that builds long-lasting and incredibly safe vehicles, and that takes an interest in the people (and animals) of the country it serves.

KBB writes, “With all-wheel drive included as standard equipment on every Subaru except its BRZ sports car, enhanced all-weather traction isn’t just a feature of Subaru cars but an integral part of the brand itself.”

Subaru also managed to score another first in the 2015 Brand Image Awards; the trusted brand took home the “Best Performance Brand” title, largely due to the WRX and WRX STI. In fact, Subaru just unveiled its STI Performance Concept at the New York International Auto Show, to show off what the STI brand (Subaru Tecnica International) is capable of.

In the luxury world, Porsche took home the Best Performance Brand, while Mercedes-Benz took home Most Trusted.
