Today Subaru announced the debut of its EyeSight driver assist technology in China.

EyeSight’s appearance on the Chinese market follows its launch in the Japanese, Australian, North American, and European markets, and the company plans to continue EyeSight’s deployment across markets globally.

Worldwide, cumulative sales of Subaru models equipped with EyeSight have thus far surpassed 900,000 units in the global market. In China, EyeSight-equipped Outback and Legacy models will be on display at the 2016 Guangzhou International Auto Show in late November.

Subaru is touting EyeSight as the first driver assist system ever to use only stereo cameras in order to detect surrounding objects, like vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. The system has received much praise since its Japanese debut in April of 2008, thanks to popular features such as pre-collision braking control and all-speed range adaptive cruise control tracking function, which are now available to an ever-expanding global market.

Subaru vehicles that feature EyeSight scored the highest possible safety ratings in tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. In Japan, EyeSight-equipped vehicles earned the highest possible scores in the comparable JNCAP ASV+ rating in the preventive safety performance assessment conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and the National Agency for Automotive Safety & Victims’ Aid (NASVA). EyeSight-equipped Subaru vehicles took the top five-star overall rating in the 2016 European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) safety performance test, as well.

Subaru also reiterated today that it will continue being guided by its “all-around safety” principle as it strives to enhance its primary, active, passive, and pre-crash safety technologies.
