December 2015 marks Subaru’s best sales month ever

The 2016 Subaru Forester led Subaru to its best sales year ever in 2015, and its best sales month ever in December

2015 was one helluva year for Subaru, and December closed it out strong. In fact, last month marked Subaru’s best month of sales in the United States to date, with 56,274 vehicles sold, largely due to Subaru’s Share the Love campaign, which just ended on Saturday. Subaru’s previous best month of sales was September of last year, when the automaker sold 53,070 units.

2015 also marked Subaru’s best year ever of sales, but we already knew that more than a month ago, when Subaru’s 2015 sales outpaced its 2014 sales well before the end of the year. In total, Subaru managed to sell 582,675 units in 2015, up 13.4% over 2014. This puts the brand more than halfway toward its supposed one million yearly sales cap (to keep the brand’s smaller niche status), but given Subaru’s explosive growth in recent years, it is possible that the brand could be facing this cap within just a few short years.

It was a record-breaking year for several of Subaru’s models. In fact, it was the best sales year ever for the Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, and WRX/STI, with 175,192 units, 152,294 units, 88,927 units, and 33,724 units sold, respectively. December also marked the 49th straight month of year-over-year sales growth for Subaru, the 29th consecutive month in which more than 10,000 Foresters were sold, and the 22nd month in a row in which more than 10,000 Outbacks were sold.

Motor Trend Person of the Year and Subaru of America president and COO, Thomas J. Doll, stated, “2015 was another stellar year for the Subaru franchise and we are very optimistic about our continued success in 2016.” I have a feeling we can definitely count on that success too.
