Subaru and National Geographic team up to launch “Find Your Park, Love Your Park”

Subaru has been partnering with the National Park Foundation over the last few years in preparation for the centennial of the National Park Service next year. As part of the partnership, Subaru has promoted a fee-free day at the parks on National Public Lands Day, has donated Outbacks to be used at various parks, has shared its zero-landfill knowledge with the foundation, and is even producing National Parks Adventure, an exciting film documentary about the parks set to debut next year.

The latest endeavor from Subaru is actually to partner with the National Geographic Society to launch “Find Your Park, Love Your Park.” This is a program meant to encourage students to learn about the national parks and why it is important to preserve and protect them.

Teachers of fourth graders will have at their disposal five free downloadable activity modules to integrate into their lesson plans. These activities will encourage interaction in the parks, as well as conversation about the parks. Some of the activities include geocaching scavenger hunts, documenting animal tracks, and using digital maps to navigate the parks.

Melina Bellows, chief education officer at National Geographic, summed things up quite nicely: “National Geographic is committed to educating the next generation of explorers about the importance of protecting and preserving our planet. The ‘Find Your Park, Love Your Park’ educational initiative with support from Subaru allows us to provide educators around the country with rich, interactive activities they can use in and out of the classroom to engage students about national parks and why they matter.”

I’m looking forward to see how else Subaru will support the National Park Foundation in the coming months.
