As the first phase in the plan, Subaru Rally Team USA plans to compete in at least eight rounds of the 2016 Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship (GRC) series, starting with the Dallas round held on June 3rd – 4th. Sverre Isachsen will take the wheel in Dallas, while Bucky Lasek competes at the skate comp at the Summer X Games. Both Isachsen and Lasek will serve as drivers for the Subaru team in the Red Bull GRC this year. David Higgins, who is fresh off a victory at the Olympus Rally, will remain the lead test driver.

As Subaru “intensifies its technical efforts” this year, the automaker hopes to take home the Red Bull GRC winning title in 2017. Work will still be done on the WRX STI GRC Supercar in the meantime.

“We are taking some important steps this season to increase our technical and engineering efforts,” said Lance Smith, Vermont SportsCar Team Principal. “Vermont SportsCar is working closely with STI in 2016 to take this program to the next level and I’m really looking forward to the future.”

Following Dallas, Lasek and Isachsen will return to the Red Bull GRC BASE round on July 4th weekend. Despite the team’s forward looking to 2017, Subaru Rally Team USA is still expected to perform well this year. That’s because Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive all but ensures a successful season. Keep checking in to see how the team performs during this and next year’s Red Bull GRC.
