Subaru’s crossover SUVs, including the Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek, made a clean sweep of the AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Awards this year

Subaru announced yesterday that it had made a clean sweep of the 2016 AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Awards in the SUV segments. The Subaru Outback, Forester, and Crosstrek each came out on top in their respective segments.

For the second year in a row, the Outback took home top honors as the Best-in-Class for the Premium Mid-Size Crossover SUV. Following suit, the Forester made its second consecutive win as Best-in-Class for the Mid-Size Crossover SUV category. A newcomer to the award, the Subaru Crosstrek earned a victory as Best-in-Class for the Compact Crossover segment.

The AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Awards are completely based on actual customer data; the winners are those vehicles that best meet their drivers’ expectations. To determine this, AutoPacific surveyed owners of 2015 and 2016 vehicles after 90s days of ownership. The survey included 15 questions that elicit responses as to what, if anything, the driver would change about their vehicle, in areas such as ride and handling, safety features, interior storage, power and acceleration, and technology.

George Peterson, president of AutoPacific, explained, “By asking vehicle owners if they would change various aspects of their vehicle if given the opportunity, we not only identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement, but we also find out which manufacturers are truly hitting the mark with owners.”

In total, AutoPacific named winners in 24 categories.

“We are extremely proud to receive these three distinguished 2016 AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Awards because they represent the voice of our customers,” remarked Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer at Subaru of America. “This recognition is a testament to our commitment of providing top quality vehicles with safety, reliability, durability, and comfort in mind.”
