Subaru returns as the title sponsor of the Mt. Washington Hillclimb in 2017

Many motorsport enthusiasts thought the 2014 Subaru Mt. Washington Hillclimb was the last of the adventurous event, but it has been announced that 2017 will mark the return of this adrenaline-filled occasion, after a three year hiatus.

As expected, Subaru will return as the title sponsor of the event, occurring July 6-9, with Subaru driver David Higgins returning to defend his crown. Along with Higgins, fellow Subaru driver and teammate Travis Pastrana will also be competing for a chance to win.

“The team is very excited and optimistic about our return to Mt. Washington,” stated Subaru Motorsports Marketing Manager Rob Weir. “Both Higgins and Pastrana are highly skilled at this event and are preparing to defend the WRX STI’s claim as King of the Hill.”

The event truly is like nothing else, with drivers racing to the top of Mt. Washington through a ton of scary twists and turns (with no guard rails!) until they reach the 6,288-foot summit. The event was first held in 1904 and has been touted as a proving ground for drivers and cars throughout the years.

“Mt. Washington remains one of the greatest challenges in motorsport, it certainly is a very demanding road and it’s an accomplishment just to reach the top,” said Higgins. “I am confident that Subaru will provide Travis and myself the ultimate weapon for the hill and I’m really looking forward to the event, it’s certainly going to be a big part of my season getting ready for it.”
