Subaru 9 Millionth Vehicle Sale

Subaru had quite the month in April. Not only did it see its best April to date, but it also hit several sales benchmarks, took home an award for the WRX, and opened a brand new headquarters.

Year over year, Subaru saw its best-ever April with a total of 53,170 vehicles sold last month — a 1.5% increase from April 2017. This is the 50th consecutive month Subaru has seen sales exceeding 40,000 units and the 77th consecutive month it has seen month-to-month increases.

Milestones made up a large part of Subaru’s notable success in April. Rounding out the month, Subaru brought in its 9 millionth sale in the United States: a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The new owner of the vehicle, Dr. Hershey Garner, is a repeat customer. “I’ve been waiting for the right Subaru to come along and found the perfect one on Adventure Subaru’s website: the 50th Anniversary Edition Crosstrek,” he said. “It has all the features I was looking for, and the color and size are the perfect fit.”

Subaru also sold its 2 millionth Subaru Outback model last month, making up nearly a quarter of Subaru’s sales in the United States. “In a challenging month for the industry, we are pleased to see the Subaru franchise set yet another sales record,” said Thomas J. Doll, Subaru of America’s president and CEO. “We thank all 629 Subaru retailers for their efforts in growing their business.”

In terms of awards, the 2018 Subaru WRX was recognized during the month of April with the Edmunds’ 2018 Best Retained Value Award for the Sports Car category.

The Subaru Crosstrek saw significant success in April beyond its honor as the 9 millionth Subaru sold in America. Last month brought in the best-ever April sales for the Crosstrek, with a total of 12,266 units sold — a whopping 69.9% increase compared to April of last year. “Our customer’s interest in the Crosstrek continues to increase every month,” said Subaru’s senior vice president of sales, Jeff Walters. “We’re now looking forward to the start of production later this month of the all-new Subaru Ascent at our plant in Indiana.”

Also toward the end of April, Subaru opened its new headquarters in Camden, New Jersey, four years after announcing the move in 2014.
