Subaru Sports Tourer Concept, the Levorg

Those waiting to see what’s next from Subaru don’t have long to wait, with the announcement that the carmaker will be revealing a wagon-shaped sports tourer concept later this month at the Tokyo Motor Show.  Named the Levorg, a name that combines the words “legacy,” “revolution” and “touring,” the concept will be indication of the new sport performance-minded wagons Subaru plans to offer in Japan in the future (and a reaffirmation of the automaker’s commitment to clever portmanteaus).

With a mysteriousness normally reserved for Batman coming out of the shadows, the recently released teaser images of the Subaru sports tourer concept give Subaru fans a vague sense of what they’ll be getting next year.  An obviously rounded nose, wraparound LED headlights and a mid-hood air scoop are enough to make anyone eager to see the real deal.

According to Subaru’s parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries, the car will be packed with technology and will have Subaru’s next generation EyeSight precrash braking system and a 1.6-liter direct-injection turbocharged engine.

The Japanese carmaker will also introduce a Cross Sport Design Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, which has a compact body and showcases the brand’s plan to move into the urban crossover segment.

Do you think Subaru’s sports tourer concept will live up to its hype?  Are we the only one who thinks of a Borg version of Geordi La Forge when we hear the name Levorg?  Let us know in the comments!
