In June, LLS and participating Subaru retailers will provide blankets, messages of hope, and arts and crafts kits to cancer patients across the U.S.

Subaru of America aims to spread some extra love, hope, and warmth in the month of June by coming together with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to reach out to cancer patients across the country.  This is the second year in a row that Subaru has chosen to team up with LLS as a charity partner. Last year, the 2016 Subaru Loves to Care initiative was able to reach 30,000 patients in more than 250 hospitals.

With plans to build upon last year’s success, Subaru is bringing the Loves to Care initiative to 475 Subaru retailers across the country this month, a sizable increase to the 393 that took part last year.

Visitors to participating Subaru retailers have the opportunity to write and share messages of hope to local patients in their communities. They can also write online messages by visiting the LLS website. At the end of June, retailers will deliver nearly 95,000 of these messages along with 38,000 blankets to patients, as well as nearly 500 arts and crafts kits to some of the younger patients.

“As the largest voluntary cancer health agency specifically focused on finding cures and treatments for blood cancer patients, LLS supports hundreds of cancer scientists and research projects around the world,” said LLS President and CEO Dr. Louis J. DeGennaro. “But the fight against blood cancers cannot be won without supporters such as Subaru and their customers. Every voice, every action, every contribution is needed and valued.”

Throughout the month, LLS will feature stories and photographs of patients and survivors who will be receiving blankets and art kits on its website. The stories act as an inspiration and a reminder of the positive message the Subaru Loves to Care program brings. In the past, Subaru has also partnered with foundations and organizations such as Make-A-Wish, the Alzheimer’s Association, and Special Olympics as part of their Subaru Loves to Care initiative.
