Sales of the 2015 Subaru Legacy were up 68.7% last month

Subaru came off an incredibly successful sales year in January; in fact, 2014 was the most successful sales year that it has ever reported, with sales surpassing 500,000 for the first time ever. You might guess that the brand would have hit a plateau, but Subaru’s 2015 sales so far indicate that the automaker’s still climbing the ladder of success. In January, Subaru boasted a near 25% increase over January of 2014, and, according to the latest report, an 18.5% increase in February–a month in which most of the industry was plagued by poor performance because of the weather.

In total, Subaru moved 41,358 units last month. That puts Subaru’s year-to-date sales at 82,170, marking a 21% increase over the first two months of 2014.

Not surprisingly, given Subaru’s insane numbers from last year, February marked the 12th consecutive month that sales exceeded 40,000 units. Notable models last month were the Legacy (up 68.7%), the Outback (up 29.7%), and the XV Crosstrek (up 16.7%). Unfortunately, sales of the BRZ are still lagging; with only 334 sold last month, sales are down 45.9%.

February also marked success for Subaru in terms of awards. The Legacy earned the Drivers’ Choice Award for Best Family Sedan from Motorweek; the Outback earned the 2015 Best Wagon for the Money Award from U.S. News & World Report; and the poor-performing BRZ at least managed a Best Buy Award from Consumer Guide.

Oh, and did we mention that Subaru won the 5-Year Cost to Own Award in the overall brand category from Kelley Blue Book?
