Subaru’s April sales benefited greatly from the Legacy’s performance

Subaru’s April sales were released today, highlighting the brand’s 14th consecutive month of sales at 40,000 or more units. In total, the automaker moved 47,241 models in April, which marks an 18% increase of April of last year.

Year-to-date, Subaru has sold 178,522 models. This reflects a 17% gain of this same time period last year.

Specifically, the Forester, Legacy, Outback, and XV Crosstrek saw strong sales in April. In fact, each model listed experienced its best April ever. The Legacy in particular, at 5,276 units sold, saw a 68.8% increase over last year. The only two models not to experience sales gains include the Impreza and the BRZ.

“Our April results exceeded our expectations and we are delighted to have achieved another monthly sales record,” remarked Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer at Subaru of America. “We have an awesome group of retailers who have made these results possible and are the true strength of our brand.”

April was also a special month for the brand because of its award achievements. Last month, Subaru earned two important Brand Image awards from Kelley Blue Book—one for Most Trusted Brand and one for Best Performance Brand.
