Subaru’s “Share the Love” Donations Surpass $50M

Subaru’s “Share the Love” program is now seven years old. The campaign allows customers purchasing a new Subaru vehicle near the end of the year to pledge $250 from Subaru toward a number of charities. Subaru offers four national charity options, including the ASPCA, Make-A-Wish, Meals on Wheels America, and the National Park Foundation. In addition, Subaru dealerships are allowed to select a local charity within their community. In total, 600 local charities benefited from the program.

In past years, Subaru had doled out about $5 million per event, but for 2014, Subaru’s “Share the Love” donations far exceeded expectations, because of how awesome of a sales year the brand had last year. For the 2014 campaign, the automaker donated a total of $15 million to the charities across the country, bringing the company’s total to more than $50 million since the program’s inception.

“We are honored to be able to support both our owners’ philanthropic spirit and the work of these incredible organizations,” remarked Alan Bethke, vice president of marketing for Subaru of America. “Share the Love is a special event and Subaru is proud to have donated $50 million to a host of national and local charities since the inception of the program. Subaru owners and retailers are making a positive impact in their communities.”

Subaru put together a “Thank you for Sharing the Love” video in gratitude.
