Ford keeps on bringing the noise with regards to the all-new 2016 Ford Focus RS. Today, the automaker revealed that the hot hatch’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost® engine will generate 350 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, and that it will utilize an innovative feature called stall recovery.

Stall recovery makes it so that the driver will no longer have to manually reset the engine or throw the vehicle into neutral, instead pushing the clutch back in automatically.

“We knew we wanted to put start-stop technology on the RS,” explained Tyrone Johnson, engineering and vehicle manager, Ford Performance Europe. “So we said, ‘What if we went one step further, and controlled for engine stall at launch using the same technology?’ Well, that’s exactly what we did and it’s just as fast as our start-stop technology.”

It was also revealed that the Focus RS’ low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger will provide peak turbocharger boost of 23.2 psi, and that it will utilize a large intercooler to regulate air delivered by a low-restriction intake manifold. The Focus RS will also benefit from faster cooling provided by a larger radiator.

Production on the 2016 Focus RS begins later this year. Stephen?
