2018 Buick Encore

The Buick Encore received a big sales boost of 82.3% during March

All of GM’s brands experienced some major sales gains during the month of March. Still, the GM brand with the largest sales gains last month was definitely Buick.

By the end of the month, Buick sales were up by 28%.

Buick sold a total of 26,834 vehicles during the month of March. That’s nearly 6,000 more units than the 20,957 vehicles it sold during March of 2017.

23,538 of those sales were exclusive to the retail sector. Buick’s retail sales were up by 22.2%.

2018 Buick Envision

Sales for SUVs like the Envision were way up

After months of sedans and passenger cars taking center stage for Buick’s sales, the brand’s crossovers and SUVs reclaimed their place in the spotlight with some rather impressive sales numbers. For example, Buick Enclave Sales were up by 6.3% year-over-year.

The Buick Envision also saw a sizable sales increase. Buick sold 4,367 Envision vehicles last month, 21.8% more than the 3,584 Envisions it sold a year prior.

No Buick had better sales last month than the Buick Encore. After consecutive sales declines in January and February, the Encore was on the rise again with a sales increase of 82.3% and a total of 15,118 units sold.

2018 Buick LaCrosse Avenir

Buick’s sedan sales began to decline once again during March

The story was quite different for Buick’s passenger cars. Sales for the Buick LaCrosse were down by 11.1%.

Meanwhile, the introduction of two new body styles for the Buick Regal couldn’t save the model from a 38.4% sales decline. Buick only managed to sell a total of 822 Regals last month.

Fortunately, year-to-date sales for both the LaCrosse and Regal are still up, thanks to strong sales in January and February. Buick’s overall year-to-date sales are also up by 13.1%, with a total of 56,804 units sold so far this year.

GM is opting to release their sales numbers on a quarterly basis beginning next month. In the meantime, you can see how Buick’s vehicles performed during the first quarter of 2018 using the sales chart below:
