Team FuelSignal Wins Connected Car-Connected City App Pursuit
Ford announced that Team FuelSignal was the winner of its first Connected Car-Connected City App Pursuit hackathon at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show.
FuelSignal was one of ten finalists named for the competition back in September. FuelSignal utilizes Ford SYNC® AppLink™ and more than 200 data sets—provided by the City of Los Angeles—to notify drivers when their fuel levels are getting low while providing directions to the nearest gas station.
Additionally, FuelSignal acts as a payment method that allows drivers to get gas at a discount and accumulate loyalty points that can be built up towards goods or additional fuel discounts.
“We were very excited to see the innovation all 10 finalists showed in their Ford SYNC AppLink-enabled apps at the Connected Car Expo this week,” said Scott Burnell, global lead, Partner Management, Ford Developer Program. “The judges felt the FuelSignal app really captured the spirit of the Connected Car-Connected City App Pursuit.”
As a part of the grand prize package, the team behind Fuel Signal will be appearing on-stage at the 2015 International CES in Las Vegas as part of Ford’s presentation.
“FuelSignal combined Ford vehicle data with city of L.A. data to provide a simple and compelling set of features that would definitely appeal to drivers,” Burnell said.
