Team Honda Activates 20,000 Volunteers in Community Service Across Region

Honda is hosting its second annual Week of Service, and over 20,000 volunteers across North America are participating in the nationwide effort to give back.

Honda associates, dealers, and suppliers will be participating in over 425 volunteer service activities in 43 different states, as well as some parts of Canada and Mexico. This Week of Service happens to coincide with Honda’s Founder’s Day, which recognizes the establishment of the first Honda business operation in North America, which occurred on June 11, 1959.

“Through this coordinated week of volunteer projects across North America, we are reinforcing the Team Honda spirit of working together to make a difference in the communities where we live and work,” said Honda executive Rick Schostek. “Honda is incredibly proud to provide the opportunity for our associates, dealers and suppliers to give their time to make a positive impact in the communities we all call home.”

The 20,000 volunteers come from roughly 20 Honda companies, 206 dealers, and nearly 100 suppliers. The Week of Service, which will run from June 9th to the 18th, began this morning and had a virtual kick-off at noon, when participants documented their efforts on social media using the Twitter hashtag #TeamHondaCares. You can find more updates and reactions to the Week of Service activities on Facebook and at http://csr.honda.com/.

Last year, Honda’s Week of Service inspired volunteer activities in 41 states, as well as Canada and Mexico. Team Honda engaged in a variety of activities, from food drives and blood drives to adopt-a-pet events and home repair. Over 60,000 canned goods and meals were collected, more than 600 pints of blood were donated, $75,000 in charitable funds was raised, and 75 homes were painted and refurbished as a result of Honda’s participation.
