Earlier this month, Toyota was narrowly beaten to Rally America Championship gold in the final round after Ryan Millen went off-course while pushing his RAV4 a little too hard.

It was a good season for Millen and the Toyota rally team, though, and they’re already looking ahead to another opportunity at nabbing a championship win, this time at NASA Rally Sport’s Empire State Performance Rally in Narrowsburg, NY.

The race will not be easy: it will be a winner-take-all, single-race national championship race that requires competitors to qualify to compete. Almost 20 National Championship competitors and more than 45 Regional and National competitors will attempt to show what they’re made of at ESPR, including seven different makes in the 2WD class, in which the Toyota RAV4 is competing.

Despite having participated in the Rally America finale just two weeks ago, Ryan Millen and co-pilot Christina Fate are optimistic about their chances—as they should be, given that the reliability of the Toyota RAV4 has been their forte throughout the year.

“We’re pretty much ready,” Fate said. “We’re ready to get back on the horse and back in the car.  It’s a great opportunity to finish on a high note.”

In addition to the American regulars, ESPR will be heavily attended by competitors hailing from Europe and Latin America. Tune into the race this weekend to watch Millen, Fate, and the Toyota RAV4 take on the rally’s narrow gravel and dirt roads and, with a little luck and a lot of courage, take the 2WD class win!
