Ford in June announced that it had renewed its contract to be the official vehicle provider for Team Sky through 2019, revealing that a liveried and customized Focus RS would lead the pack for the cyclists as its official scout car in the 2017 Tour de France.

The Focus RS scout car could not have come at a better time, and it helped pave the way for Chris Froome, Team Sky lead rider, to take home his fourth Tour de France victory and lead Team Sky to its fifth win at the Champs-Élysées. Team Sky, accordingly, was named best overall team.

To celebrate Team Sky’s crowning achievement, the Team Sky Ford Focus RS Option Pack scouting car was rewrapped in a special yellow livery. So, too, were the Ford Mondeo Wagon Sports Director race cars, a new addition to the fleet announced as part of Team Sky and Ford’s partnership extension.

The rest of the fleet—consisting of Ford Edge, Kuga, S-MAX, Tourneo Custom, and Transit vehicles—were given distinctive yellow stripes in place of the usual Team Sky blue.

“The Tour de France has once again captured the imagination of the world and we are delighted to be part of a winning team, our vehicles playing an integral role in helping Team Sky and Chris Froome to achieve another well-deserved victory,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales, and Service, Ford of Europe.

Ford has been partner and official vehicle provider of Team Sky since 2016.
