Teen Recreates ‘La La Land’ Opening Scene to Ask Emma Stone to Prom
Aspiring filmmaker and everyday teenager Jacob Staudenmaier has a huge crush on Emma Stone, Oscar winner and leading lady from the film La La Land. As many high schoolers know, prom season is upon us and if you don’t already have a date, well, you better get one soon. Jacob, a student at Arcadia High School in Phoenix, Arizona, decided to recreate the iconic opening scene from the mega hit La La Land, in an attempt to get the starlet to attend the prom as his date.
Carpool Chaos: How to prepare so you don’t lose your mind
Teens go to extreme lengths these days to ask others to prom via social media and can get incredibly creative with their “promposals.” Jacob took it to another level with his offer, enlisting the help of his friends to shoot the scene and record new lyrics for the movie’s opening tune, “Another Day of Sun.”
The teen’s now viral video starts with standstill traffic in front of the school, while Jacob hums along to the music before busting into the full number, during which he insists the he would buy the actress dinner at Olive Garden. While strutting between a variety of vehicles, he even references Stone’s co-star in the film, Ryan Gosling, and says that he’s been told they look alike.
While Jacob isn’t necessarily the best dancer (or singer, as he admits in the video), I still give him an A+ for effort, simply for having the guts to upload the video online for all to see. Word on the street is that Emma’s mother has seen the video, so it may eventually make its way to the actress (if it hasn’t already)! The Arcadia High School prom is on April 29th, only 24 days away, so I’m hoping for Jacob’s sake that Emma’s schedule is clear that day.
