The Tesla Model S is America’s Most Loved Vehicle
According to StrategicVision’s “Most Loved Vehicles in America” study, America’s sweetheart is not a pickup truck, nor is it a powerful muscle car, nor is it even a zippy little performance car. Nope, not a chance. The choice seems to indicate that Ol’ Lady America has tossed aside those old bingo hall relics for a younger, hotter man—who just so happens to bear the name of a dashing, mustachioed Serbian-American genius.

That’s right, folks. The Tesla Model S is America’s Most Loved Vehicle.
According to StrategicVision’s press release, the “Most Loved Vehicles in America” are determined based upon The Edwards Commitment Scale ™—so named for Dr. Darrel Edwards, Ph.D.
“We completed over a decade of research and consulting in determining how to capture the ways that people talk about their loves, said Dr. Edwards. “We discovered that the natural language was in a ‘Love-Hate’ context with nuances in-between.
“The report of Most Loved Vehicles in America captures a vehicle’s total emotional response from buyer-drivers. The industry is mature enough to actually accept ‘True Love’ as a core comprehensive, interactive and discriminating emotional response.”

The Edwards Commitment Scale rates vehicles on a scale of 1-7; 1 = Hate it, 2 = a failure, 3 = Unsatisfactory, 4 = Satisfactory, 5 = Excellent, 6 = Delightful, and 7 = Love it. The 1,000 point “Love Scale” is based upon facets such as commitment, overall customer satisfaction, emotional responses, and repurchase loyalty.
The Tesla Model S is America’s Most Loved Vehicle by virtue of an 852 overall score (out of that possible 1,000). Perhaps nearly as surprising is the second highest-scoring model: the Hyundai Equus, which won the Most Loved Luxury Car category with 821 points.
The study seems to indicate that America is indeed ready to embrace Tesla as one would a lover on a cold Valentine’s Day eve. Of course, if greasy politicians like Ohio’s own Sen. Tom Patton have their way, America’s romance with Tesla may be a more hush-hush affair for the foreseeable future.
