Buick-GMC US Vice President Duncan Aldred disappointed gear heads throughout the US in 2015, when he announced Buick would not reveal a GNX concept at the New York Auto Show, but Aldred may have won back those performance car enthusiasts with the recent unveiling of the 2016 Buick Avista Concept.

Unveiled one day before its public debut at the North American International Auto Show, the 2016 Buick Avista Concept is a 2+2 coupe that features a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine good for 400 horsepower. In addition, this powerful engine will feature Start/Stop technology and Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation). Furthermore, the Avista Concept makes use of an eight-speed automatic transmission and Magnetic Ride Control.

The RWD Avista Concept comes equipped with 20-inch aluminum wheels and a three-dimensional mesh grille with the new winged tri-shield insignia. The Avista Concept also features a 110.7-inch wheelbase.

In the interior, the new Buick will feature a future version of the Intellilink touchscreen system, as well as 3D-printed door and seat trim. The cabin should also be very quiet, as Buick designers used advanced noise cancellation technology when crafting the vehicle.

“The Avista embodies the dynamic soul of Buick,” said Aldred. “It is a modern expression of the brand’s heritage of sophisticated performance, communicated with beautiful elegance.”
