The most fuel-efficient minivan of all time

Minivans offer a number of different benefits to drivers. They supply additional space for passengers and cargo. Minivans also possess some of the best interior features in the automotive industry. However, one area in which minivans usually don’t excel is fuel efficiency. While describing most minivans, “efficient” is not a word you would use. However, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is not like most minivans.

According to a report from FCA US, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is the most efficient minivan of all time, greatly reducing the vehicle’s carbon footprint and environmental impact.

Incredible Pacifica Features: All-New 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Features Guaranteed to Impress

A study conducted by FCA US found that the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid had an overall environmental impact that was 31 percent less than Chrysler’s previous generation of minivans. FCA US used industry software to determine the Global Warming Potential of the Pacifica Hybrid over the course of 120,000 miles of operation.

Once the data was analyzed, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid ultimately accounted for a 21-metric ton reduction of CO2-equivalent greenhouse gases. Twenty-one-metric tons of emissions is equivalent to the average annual CO2 output from 22 households in America.

In order to achieve such an incredible reduction in emissions, the 2017 Pacifica Hybrid is equipped with an adapted V6 engine, which makes use of a dual-motor, eFlite electrically variable transmission.

Additionally, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid with a fuel-economy rating of 84 MPGe, making it the highest-rated minivan in the history of the EPA.

Lower Emissions, Higher Efficiency: The 2017 Pacifica Hybrid Minivan: Better MPG, Lower Emissions

“With each one that drives off a dealer’s lot, the emissions-savings are multiplied accordingly,” said Phil Jansen, Head of Product Development for FCA US. “The introduction of the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid represents a major milestone for the auto industry, as well as society at large.”

With more emphasis placed on fuel efficiency than ever before in the automotive industry, it would seem that Chrysler has crafted an unexpected vehicle in order to make its fleet just a little more green.
