Porsche has yet to reveal pricing information for the 2018 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid

While most automakers are anxiously awaiting the upcoming Paris Motor Show to display their newest vehicle designs, Porsche has already released details about its new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, which just so happens to borrow design cues from the famous 918 Spyder supercar.

The 2018 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid will come equipped with a gasoline-powered 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that’s rated at 330 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque. That petro-engine will work in conjunction with an electric motor that pumps out 136 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque itself. That means combined system output for the new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid sits at 462 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. However, unlike the previous-generation Panamera S E-Hybrid, which required the gas pedal to be pushed down at least 80% before the electric motor kicked in, the new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is similar to the 918 Spyder in that it starts out in pure electric mode.

In electric mode, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid operates as a zero-emission vehicle

Thanks to its efficient engines and new eight-speed Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, the 2018 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid can travel up to 31 miles using only electricity to power the sedan. In addition, the liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery that powers the electric motor can be charged in less than 12 hours using a 120-volt, 10-amp connection. For even quicker charging, consumers can opt for the available 7.2 kW on-board charger rather than the 3.6 kW version. This optional charger allows the 4 E-Hybrid to power up in less than three hours when using a 240-volt, 40-amp connection.

In case you’re thinking the new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is only concerned about efficiency, then think again because with the “Sport” and “Sport Plus” driving modes, the all-wheel drive Panamera 4 E-Hybrid can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and can also reach a top speed of 172 mph.

As far as the inside of the car goes, the 4 E-Hybrid will feature a power meter that provides data regarding how much electrical energy the vehicle is using, as well as the amount of energy the car is recovering through regenerative braking. In addition, there will also be a 12.3-inch touchscreen featured inside of the car, which can be used to manipulate the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system.

The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is scheduled to make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show, which begins October 1st and runs until October 16th. Also, while the powertrain of the Panamera 4 E-Hyrbid is a bit different than the 4S and Turbo models, the E-Hybrid model will still feature the flabbergasting good looks of the second-generation Panamera that’s sure to be a hit with auto fans who will be attending the show.
