Ford Focus lineup Europe

Ford has revealed the all-new Focus, and it’s what you might call a looker.

The next-generation Focus was unveiled primarily with European and Chinese drivers in mind, focusing a great deal on trims like the Vignale and ST-Line that are not likely to make the leap to the United States. The Focus will be offered as a four-door sedan, five-door hatchback, and five-door wagon, the latter-most of which is unfortunately also unlikely to appear in the land of milk and honey. There will also be a Ford Focus Active, which like the Fiesta Active will be more crossover-like in proportions; that’s more likely to come to America, because if there’s one thing we love in America, it’s crossovers.

What will almost certainly translate to the North American Focus is its bold new style and more spacious proportions. The Focus ups interior comfort with an extended wheelbase, increasing shoulder room by 2.4 inches and leg room by 2.8 inches. This serves to make the Focus more passenger- and pet-friendly, particularly in the case of the wagon—which, again, tragically probably isn’t coming to America.

The 2019 Ford Focus is also more technologically advanced. It will follow the lead of the 2019 Fusion in sporting Ford Co-Pilot360, a suite of active driver-assist technologies including Active Park Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Performance-wise, the Focus will be offered with standard Drive Mode Technology and Electric Power Assisted Steering to take fuller advantage of a more rigid chassis. Ford has confirmed that the Focus will be sold in China with the 1.0-liter EcoBoost and an all-new 1.5-liter EcoBoost, while the European Focus will be offered with the 1.0-liter EcoBoost, 1.5-liter EcoBoost, an additional variation of the 1.5-liter EcoBoost, and a 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel.

Ford says that it will introduce the new Focus to North America good and proper-like sometime “closer to its on-sale date next year.” So, ya know, stay tuned and ogle the pictures. Including the wagon. Which we’re probably not getting.
