‘The Fate of the Furious’ Commercial Offers Yet Another Look at the Dodge Demon
The Dodge Demon is horrible at hide-and-seek
For the past eight weeks, Dodge has done a meticulous job revealing only tiny details about its upcoming performance vehicle, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Each teaser video only offers a slight glimpse of the Demon itself.
However, whenever The Fate of the Furious enters the picture, it would seem that all of the secrecy is cast aside. For example, a video of Vin Diesel’s production wrap-up speech appeared to offer a crystal-clear look at the SRT Demon. Meanwhile, the Demon was reportedly spotted during the filming of a Pitbull music video for the flim in Miami.
In fact, the most recent Fast and Furious-centric commercial from Dodge and Universal Pictures has the Demon plastered all over it. The Dodge Demon symbol is not only featured prominently on the wall of a garage, but Mopar/Dodge NHRA Top Fuel Dragster racer Leah Pritchett is even wearing a shirt with the Demon logo printed on it.

However, is the performance vehicle itself featured in the advertisement? At first glance, the answer might appear to be “no.” Nevertheless, upon further inspection, that answer just might change.

During the advertisement, titled “Muscle Heaven,” the Fast & Furious crew, including Letty, portrayed by Michelle Rodriguez, and Tej, played by rapper Ludacris, are introduced to a garage full of Dodge performance vehicles. Ludacris decrees the garage to be “heaven,” while Pritchett further confirms it to be “muscle heaven.”

So let’s take a look to see what kind of vehicles reside in the divine realm that is “muscle” heaven. The room is lined with Dodge Chargers, a Dodge Durango, a Dodge Viper, and, of course, Dodge Challengers. However, none of the Challenger vehicles appear to be the Challenger SRT Demon. Indeed, most of them are your run-of-the-mill, 707- horsepower Challenger Hellcats.
One of the Dodge Challenger vehicles takes off, and it crashes through a wall, thanks to the magic of film editing. However, once the Challenger makes its grand escape, this is where things get interesting.
Wanna see a magic trick? Dodge is going to make fender flares suddenly appear!
Take a look at the Challenger once it has left the building:
The vehicle appears to have become wider, and it also appears to have gained fender flares around its wheels.
Where have we seen fender flares on a Dodge Challenger before? Why, on the Dodge Demon model that appeared during Vin Diesel’s speech!
Now, that screencap from the ad is admittedly pretty blurry, so it might be easy to conclude the vehicle in the commercial and the vehicle seen during Diesel’s video aren’t the same. However, there’s no denying the similarities once we get a good look at the alleged Demon at the end of the advertisement.
If the Challenger seen during Vin Diesel’s speech is indeed the long-awaited Dodge Demon, then the latest Dodge advertisement has given us another clear look at the vehicle Dodge has been attempting to keep under wraps. All of this further backs up the theory that The Fate of the Furious will be used to promote the Dodge Demon, and vice versa.
At this rate, commercials and trailers for The Fate of the Furious will ultimately reveal the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon long before it can make its official debut during the New York International Auto Show.
