The 2015 Scion xB 686 Parklan Edition

Since its introduction back in 2004, the Scion xB has received quite the cult following. Its boxy shape made it stand out on the road—especially in its first generation. When the second generation hit in 2008, drivers’ feelings towards it cooled. What made the xB such a unique vehicle—its fun-to-drive spirit—disappeared with the car’s redesign, and sales began plummeting. This year, Scion announced that 2015 would be the last model year for the xB.

But it’s not all doom and gloom for xB fans. Scion plans to send the boxy car off in style with a final xB special edition model—the 686 Parklan Edition. This vehicle is the result of a collaboration between Scion and 686 Technical Apparel, and takes on the appearance of 686’s hard-wearing yet fashionable clothing.

The special edition model features blacked-out badges, side mirrors, rear license plate garnish, and door handles. It rides on 16-inch gloss black alloy wheels and features the 686 stamped logo. The 686 Parklan Edition is painted Cocoa Bean Metallic with red lines in the front, rear, and side mirrors to emulate the style of 686’s apparel.

Inside, the 2015 Scion xB 686 Parklan Edition features a driver’s side zippered storage pocket, as well as zippered seat back pockets. All-weather floor and cargo mats are standard features, making it ideal for outdoorsy types who tend to get muddy. Finally, the special edition model comes with an available roof rack, and a custom INNO Cargo Box.

“The xB has been part of Scion from the very beginning and we wanted to give it a meaningful send-off,” explained Scion Vice President Andrew Gilleland. “What better way to do that than to partner with 686, which caters to people who live their lives to the fullest? Whether it’s used on the streets or the slopes, this xB will become a classic.”

The 2015 Scion xB 6865 Parklan Edition will carry an MSRP of $19,685, which excludes a delivery, processing, and handling fee of $795. Only 686 models will be made, because why not.
