The Mystery of the Cadillac Period: What Does it All Mean?
Update: turns out that this tweet is part of a larger “white out” campaign. Oh, mystery!

Amid all the hype and pageantry surrounding the first day of the Chicago Auto Show, one of the most interesting occurrences quietly took place on Twitter. It didn’t involve a new model reveal. It didn’t involve an announcement. It didn’t involve an appearance from an adorable K-9. It involved one single period.

We’ll go ahead and imbed it right here, but there’s no telling if or when Cadillac intends to take this (maybe) faux pas Tweet down. Given that it’s been 22 hours as of this writing, we get the distinct impression it isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
Now, this raises the question: what does it all mean? Is the period a tease for some future model that will be suddenly unleashed during the second day of CAS? Is it the last desperate act of Cadillac’s now-terminated Twitter mod? Is Cadillac’s Twitter merely run by geriatrics who don’t know what a Twitter even does or is and why the hell are you standing on my lawn?
If it’s unintended, it’s almost guaranteed that Cadillac will find a way to spin it into some kind of marketing ploy. “CADILLAC IS THE BEST LUXURY CAR BRAND PERIOD.” “CADILLAC HAS MORE LUXURY IN ONE PERIOD THAN ITS COMPETITORS HAVE IN THE WHOLE OF GERMANY.”
Either way, here’s a good barometer for your brand: if you can’t get 199 retweets and 148 favorites on a well-composed tweet, then you’re not as good as the Cadillac period.
