Here at The News Wheel, we’re a bit obsessed with the refreshed 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. Ever since its big reveal in Detroit in May, one question has been on our minds on a repetitive loop, like the chorus from the backseat of the car on a long roadtrip: Is it here yet? Is it here yet?

Originally Chevrolet gave the vague release date of “before the end of 2015”, followed by industry estimates of August or September, which were clearly wrong.  In July, the dealer order guide was made available, and in August a basic online configurator went online, but still not a peep from Chevrolet. It’s like the automaker enjoys messing with our hopes and dreams.

Thanks to the Lansing State Journal, it looks like we might have our most reliable estimate yet, and it’s kind of exciting. Michigan dealerships have told the newspaper that they expect the 2016 Camaro on their lots as early as next month. The Lansing dealerships have all placed their orders, and are excited for the release. One dealer has made room for six Camaros on its lot, and thinks the new Camaro will be the biggest debut since the 2014 Corvette.

Next month is a very optimistic estimate, and some of the dealers acknowledge that it might be closer to December. Another factor to consider when estimating Camaro delivery is the classic location, location, location mantra. The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is being built in Lansing, so those dealers will probably take delivery first.

While there is still no official word from Chevrolet, the estimate is enough to get us excited all over again. We hope this car rolls out soon, before we lose our minds in anticipation.
