HRH Prince William Duke of Cambridge & Catherine Dutchess of Cambridge visit Sunderland's Northern Spire bridge on a visit to the CityWhen you think of the British Royal Family and its fleet of cars, you pretty much see images of Land Rovers, Bentleys, and Aston Martins. Well, thanks to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s visit to Sunderland you can now add the Nissan Leaf to the list.

Of course, this is not the first time that the Sunderland-built Nissan Leaf has had a brush with royalty, as it has also met Prince Charles in 2015. This electric car was chosen because you can clearly see the Nissan Sunderland facility from the new bridge, and there’s no questioning the economic impact the factory has brought to the region.

In general, Their Royal Highnesses were in town to show the world Sunderland’s active arts community and engineering ability. While the British royal family tends to steer clear of politics, the popular couple’s appearance in a Nissan vehicle probably also goes a long way towards reminding Nissan why they should keep its plant in the region as Brexit negotiations continue.
