Timothy Kuniskis - Chrysler Group Leadership Changes

Tim Kuniskis is taking his talents from Dodge to Alfa Romeo

Tim Kuniskis is a bit of a folk hero for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. It was during his tenure as Head of Passenger Car Brands for FCA North America that projects like the Dodge Demon were brought to fruition.

Still, the time has come for Kuniskis to take his talents to another realm of FCA’s operations, as he has just been named the Head of Alfa Romeo and Maserati.

Kuniskis is adopting the position from Reid Bigland. Bigland, meanwhile, will continue to serve as FCA’s Head of U.S. Sales and the President and CEO of FCA Canada.

“As Reid has established the commercial foundation for Alfa and Maserati, today’s announcement allows Tim to dedicate his efforts solely on the next chapter of these storied brands,” stated FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne.

This leadership shift is designed in part to help FCA best handle the consumer shift away from passenger cars toward SUVs and trucks. Bigland’s primary task will be to accelerate sales growth in this area.

Kuniskis has been with FCA for 26 years. Before he assumed the role of Head of Passenger Car Brands, Kuniskis held a number of positions in FCA’s U.S. sales business centers.

If Kuniskis is heading over to Alfa Romeo and Maserati, then who will be taking his place as Head of Passenger Car Brands like Chrysler, Dodge, and Fiat? That title will be granted to Steve Beahm.

Beahm most recently served as the Head of Maserati North America, adding a bit of irony to this role reversal. Before that, Beahm led FCA’s Supply Chain Management in North America.

With Kuniskis now leading the recently-reintroduced Alfa Romeo brand, we might very well see a turbo-charged Giulia model in the near future.
