Top Gear Host Chris Evans Already Contemplating Quitting Show
Top Gear is back, and it’s officially on the struggle bus. After the departure of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May from the beloved show, everyone was a bit hesitant about its future. And it looks like they had every right to be. There’s a laundry list of things that just don’t seem to working out for Top Gear’s newest season—but the one thing that truly stands out is that the show’s new host, Chris Evans, is already threatening to quit.

According to a recent report from The Mirror, Evans has been getting continually frustrated with Top Gear’s top brass. The executives on the show, especially former BBC exec Kim Shillinglaw, are continually interfering with his decision making, refusing to give him free rein as ex-host Jeremy Clarkson once had. Just six months into his three-year contract, Evan is already contemplating a departure from the show.
The Mirror stated, “[Sources] claimed that the 49-year-old star—who remains determined to make a top quality show—felt ‘drained and disheartened’ after a series of heated run-ins with his BBC paymasters over the future direction of Top Gear.”

Shillinglaw has now left the show, so hopefully, Evans will finally have more control over the show’s outcome. It will be interesting to see how the new Top Gear compares to Clarkson, Hammond, and May’s newest Amazon show, though.
