‘Top Gear’ Host Chris Harris Gets Own Car Show in United States
Chris Harris now has his own television show on BBC America

It’s no secret that Top Gear has been having a rough go at it lately. Drama seems to follow the show like a lost duckling seeking a new mama. It started before the newly revamped show even premiered with rumors that Chris Evans, the head host, wanted to quit the show. Then, the show had to hire a new executive because Evans didn’t get along with the last one. There was that whole kerfuffle with Matt LeBlanc and a London war memorial. When the show finally debuted, it decreased in ratings quickly. Finally, Matt LeBlanc supposedly threatened to leave the show if Chris Evans wasn’t fired, eventually leading to Evans quitting.
Seriously. I don’t think I’ve seen this much drama since junior high.
Despite the drama, though, there has been one awesome thing that has come out of all this drama—Chris Harris.

Harris, who was known for his YouTube channel before getting a spot as one of the six Top Gear hosts, currently not only appears on the British motoring show, but also hosts the show’s new spinoff called Extra Gear. But that’s not all—Harris now has his very own car show on BBC America, which is called Chris Harris on Cars.

In a recent press release from BBC America, the television channel’s president, Sarah Barnett, stated: “Chris Harris on Cars is mischievous, insightful, and downright entertaining; we think BBCA viewers will love it.” Harris himself added on to this, saying, “If wanton tire destruction, powerslides, and continuous drooling over the world’s fastest and most expensive road racers like the Porsche 911 GT3RS or the Aston Martin GT12 is your thing—you could do considerably worse than watch me put them through their respective paces on track and road on BBC America.”

This new show comes at an interesting time since Top Gear and Extra Gear are currently running on BBC America and BBC. Because it’s coming only to BBC America, though, it’s easy for us to assume that Harris and his team might be trying to tap into America’s need for great car-related television.
Chris Harris on Cars premiered this past Monday and will go on for seven episodes in the Monday at 9pm slot.
