Toyota 4Runner recognized in J.D. Power Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study

Whether you take frequent road trips or just drive the daily commute to and from work, having comfortable, reliable seats in your car is a pretty big deal. There’s nothing worse than having your rear end go numb or suddenly getting shooting pains down your hamstring from a non-supportive seat. Luckily, if you drive a vehicle made by Toyota Motor Corp, chances are you’re pretty comfy on the road. J.D. Power recently released the results from its Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study, and six out of the 21 vehicles recognized were Toyota Motor Corp. vehicles.

The list isn’t new to Toyota; last year, the automaker had four vehicles recognized for their comfortable seating. But an extra two this year shows that Toyota Motor Corp. is putting more stock in its seats, and investing more heavily in the comfort of drivers. The vehicles on the list included the Toyota 4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia; the Lexus RX; and the Scion iQ.

When evaluating seating for comfort, J.D. Power asked owners of new vehicles to rate the comfort and quality of the car’s seats and seatbelts. Owners were asked to base their ratings on whether or not they had experienced malfunctions, defects, or design problems in the first 90 days of ownership. Altogether, J.D. Power surveyed over 86,000 owners and lessees of 2014 model-year vehicles.

J.D. Power also gave nods to the Range Rover Evoque, Porsche Cayenne, Ford F-250/3-50, Ford C-Max, Porsche Panamera, and Hyundai Elantra.
